Pharmacies dispense "142m in State medicines in 10 years




The Pharmacy of Your Choice scheme has dispensed "142 million worth of medicines to over 153,000 patients, a massive outreach since it was started 10 years ago.
The number of patients reached in growing year on year, the Health Ministry said in a statement.
"This is one of the success stories in the Maltese health sector," Health Minister Chris Fearne said.
In 2008, POYC started with just 28,827 clients. Now, 153,367 patients collect their State-entitled medicines every two months from the pharmacy of their choice, as the name of scheme indicates. This has greatly reduced the queues at the government pharmacies, the ministry noted.
