Airport's lost-and-found auction raises "7,000 for charity

An auction of lost and found items held by Malta International Airport has yielded "7,730 for the charitable works of the?Sovereign Order of Malta.
The seventh edition of the annual event attracted 160 people.
Over 90 items, including a number of mobile phones, branded sunglasses, and watches, went under auctioneer Pierre Grech Pillow's hammer.
Starting at "200 and eventually going for "750, the highest-selling item on the night was a DJI?Phantom drone.
MIA said that while many lost-and-found items are returned to their owners, the items that remain unclaimed end up on its annual auction list. The auctioning of items that were never claimed by their owners or were confiscated by security personnel is common practice at airports such as Heathrow, Munich, Frankfurt, and Sydney.
The money raised during previous editions of the auction benefited Inspire (2016), Dar tal-Providenza (2015), Hospice Malta (2014), and The LadybirdFoundation (2013).
The Order of Malta assists persons who are sick or have special needs, young children coming from disadvantaged backgrounds, religious institutions, and homes. ?
