Indian billionaire's yacht has to pay "68,000 to agents




The luxury yacht belonging to a former Indian politician, co-owner of Formula One Force India team, has been ordered to pay two maritime service agencies over "68,000.
Indian Empress, the vessel owned by multimillionaire Vijay Vittal Mallya, is currently held under court order in Malta after being targeted by a maritime lien over a million-dollar wage bill.
Earlier this month, the super yacht had been ordered by a civil court to settle an outstanding bill of? in favour of local marine repairs and services company Melita Power Diesel Limited after the latter had to summary proceedings to claim the debt.
Now, the First Hall, Civil Court, presiding over a case instituted by Agence Maritime Tropezienne and Luise Associates Riviera & Co. Srl, has upheld the claims of "25,829 and "42,502 respectively relative to services rendered to the vessel.
Legal representatives of the super yacht have admitted the applicants' claims.
The owner of the yacht, which boasts a 15-seat cinema and Sir Elton John's baby grand piano, appears to have other problems on his mind.
