'Untainted by cultural philistinism'... Malta Jazz Festival kicks off
The Malta Jazz Festival remains untainted by the "cultural?philistinism" that appears to be invading major festivals, according to its artistic director.
Sandro Zerafa?was speaking to Times of Malta as the main festival kicks off at?Ta'?Liesse?in Valletta on Friday night.
World music, contemporary and pure jazz are on the menu for the 2018 Malta Jazz Festival, which features the legendary Chick Corea?and world music supergroup?Bokant?.
The festival kicks off at 8pm with The Blue Tangerine, Christian McBride's New Jawn quartet and Bokant?.?
Joao Bosco and the Chick Corea?Trio (featuring John Patitucci and Dave Weckl) complete Saturday's line-up.
Most of the seated tickets are sold out.
Transport
There will be a sea shuttle service between Sliema?and Marsamxett?as well as the Three Cities to Valletta.
A mini bus shuttle service will be available upon presentation of a Malta Jazz Festival ticket. It will run from?Marsamxett?to?Ta'?Liesse?from 7pm to 9pm and vice versa from 00.15am to 01.15am.
The last ferry for Sliema and that for The Three Cities will leave at 1.30am on both Friday and Saturday.
